Medibud Feminised

Growing Medibud in Ireland is a question of rain and wind rather than of heat or latitude. The whole island runs temperate oceanic, so nowhere is meaningfully warmer than anywhere else — what changes as you move west is how many wet days land on the plant while it is in flower. Outdoors that makes bud structure and the 55-65 days of bloom the two things worth reading before anything else, because a dense cola and a wet October are a poor combination. Under a tunnel or under lights the argument disappears: Medibud is then judged on its genetics and on nothing else.

The pressures here are consistent and they are nearly all about water. Botrytis in dense flower from September onwards is the first, and it is answered with open structure, moving air and a roof — not with anything sprayed on afterwards. Indoors, spider mite and thrips arrive the way they always do, and humidity above 60% in late bloom is what turns a manageable problem into a lost room. Outdoors in a wet spring the slugs do more damage to seedlings than every insect on the plot, and they do it in a single night.

A polytunnel changes the arithmetic on Medibud more than any other single purchase. It adds a fortnight at both ends of the season, keeps the rain off the flower during the weeks that matter, and turns a marginal outdoor crop into a reliable one.

The catalogue lists energetic, focused, uplifted, and that matches what growers here report back. At 17% THC this hybrid sits where the balance is the argument for it. Small doses stay functional, larger ones relax properly, and the 60/40 split means the direction is set by the amount rather than fixed by the plant. The Myrcene and Limonene together leave earth and faint sweetness, with fruit at the end.

Straight off the dry the myrcene dominates; three or four weeks sealed in glass at 16-18°C and the pinene underneath comes up to meet it. Vaporising between 180°C and 195°C catches the widest span, because heat takes the lighter pinene molecules first.

Medibud suits growers with the fundamentals in place. Understand pH, rough nutrient ratios and a light cycle before committing to it; it asks for competence rather than expertise. Photoperiod genetics leave plant size and harvest date under your control — veg longer for a bigger plant, or flip early when the ceiling is low. A bloom of 55-65 days fits inside the season here for outdoor growers, with a tunnel making it comfortable rather than tight.
