Cannabis Seeds for Ireland — Genetics That Finish Before the Autumn Rain

Ireland is close to one climate the whole way through, and that climate sets one hard constraint: the season is short and it ends wet. Plants go out at the end of May and the useful window closes in early October, with the dullest, dampest weeks of it landing squarely on flowering. What separates Wexford from Connemara is a rainfall and sunshine gradient, not a different climate. Our catalogue is organised around finishing early: autoflowering genetics that run on age rather than daylight and can be done before the equinox, feminised photoperiods chosen on flowering time first, and CBD-forward cultivars. Prices in euro, VAT included.

Where a strain has no published flowering time or yield from a breeder or reference source, we leave the field blank rather than fill it with a plausible number. That is why some strain pages show fewer figures than others.cultivation guides for region-specific germination techniques.

What Actually Changes When You Grow in Ireland

Two things drive almost every outdoor decision here, and neither is potency. The first is length: the usable outdoor season runs from the end of May to the start of October, which is short by any standard, and the last six weeks of it are the wettest and dullest. The second is that there is no dry season to move flowering into. Rain falls in every month — around 750 mm a year on the east coast and well over 1,200 mm on the Atlantic seaboard — so a plant finishing in October is finishing in the wet. Choose on days-to-finish before anything else.

📅

A Short Season, Not a Warm One

The usable outdoor window runs from the end of May to the start of October. Everything else follows from that: a photoperiod needing ten weeks of flower has to be in bud by the end of July to finish clean, and most are not. Read days-to-finish before you read anything else on a strain page.

🌧️

No Dry Season to Flower Into

Ireland has rain in every month and an autumn maximum, so there is nowhere on the island where flowering falls in the dry. This is the single hardest fact about growing here and the one most imported advice ignores. Open flower structure and mould resistance are worth more than an extra fifty grams on paper.

🍄

Botrytis Is the Real Yield Limit

Bud rot, not cold, is what takes an Irish outdoor crop. Dense colas hold moisture through a damp September and go from fine to ruined inside a week. Airy, open-structured plants, generous spacing and a fast finish beat feeding and training every time. Inspect daily from the moment flowers start to fill.

☀️

Long Days Are the Advantage

At 51 to 55 degrees north, midsummer gives about seventeen hours between sunrise and sunset with long twilight either side. Vegetative growth outdoors is genuinely strong. The same latitude is why it ends abruptly: by early October the day is down to eleven hours and shortening by four minutes each morning.

🧭

The Gradient Runs West to East

The east coast gets around 750 mm of rain a year and the best sunshine totals in the country; the Atlantic seaboard gets 1,200 to over 2,000 mm along with the wind. Same climate, meaningfully different odds. Wexford and Connemara are not the same grow, and copy that pretends otherwise is not worth reading.

⚡

Autoflowers Suit the Calendar

An autoflower runs on age rather than daylight hours, so it can be started in May, finished in August and be off the plant before the September rain arrives — or run twice in a season under cover. In a climate where the deadline is the weather rather than the frost, that is the strongest structural argument for them anywhere in this estate.

Choosing Cannabis Seeds for Irish Conditions

Most strain pages sell you on potency. Potency is the least useful number when you are deciding what to actually put in the ground in Ireland, because the thing that decides whether you harvest is timing — and what constrains the timing changes completely depending on which county you are in.

Work backwards from the weather, not forwards from germination. Nearly everywhere in Ireland the binding constraint is the same one — a wet, dull October arriving before a late photoperiod has finished — and it bites at different strengths rather than in different ways. In the eastern counties, with the lowest rainfall and the best sunshine in the country, a moderate photoperiod finishing in early October is a reasonable bet. In the midlands the first inland frost arrives earlier and moves the deadline forward. On the Atlantic seaboard the wind and the constant leaf wetness make an uncovered outdoor photoperiod a gamble at any flowering time, and a polytunnel is not a luxury. One constraint, three margins.

That is why finishing time is the field worth reading first on any strain page here, ahead of yield and ahead of THC. Where we have a flowering figure from the breeder or a reference source, it is on the page. Where no published figure exists, the page shows nothing rather than a generic range.

Reading a Flowering Time Against Your Own Frost Date

▼

A flowering time is not a harvest date. For a photoperiod it is the span after you flip, or after natural daylength drops far enough outdoors — so the useful sum is your realistic flip date plus the flowering window, checked against when the autumn weather closes in where you are. Outdoors in Ireland that sum rarely leaves much slack: a plant flipping with the natural daylength in August has to finish inside about eight weeks to beat the October rain.

Autoflowers behave differently. They run on an internal clock, usually ten to twelve weeks from germination regardless of daylength, which makes them predictable to schedule and far easier to fit into a short season. That predictability, rather than any yield advantage, is why they suit an Irish season — started in May, an autoflower can be harvested in August, well clear of the weather that ends the year.

Feminised, Regular and Autoflowering: What the Labels Mean

▼

Feminised cannabis seeds are bred using techniques that ensure virtually every plant develops as female — the sex that produces cannabinoid-rich flower. Without feminisation, roughly half your plants would be males that need identifying and removing before they pollinate your crop. Our feminised collection spans over 1,000 varieties, from compact indica cultivars suited to tight grow tents through to stretchy sativa-dominant hybrids that thrive outdoors. The one consideration: feminised photoperiod strains require a deliberate shift in lighting — from 18 hours of light during vegetative growth to 12 hours to trigger flowering.

Autoflowers: Set-and-Forget Genetics for Faster Results

▼

Autoflowering seeds incorporate ruderalis genetics that cause plants to begin flowering based on age rather than light exposure. Most autoflowers transition to bloom roughly three to four weeks after germination and reach harvest in eight to twelve weeks total. They stay compact — typically 60 to 120 centimetres — and tolerate the kinds of mistakes that derail photoperiod grows: a missed feed, an imprecise pH, or a light cycle broken by a power cut. That tolerance, not a yield advantage, is the reason they are usually the right first grow.

Matching Genetics to Where You Are in Ireland

▼

Irish growing conditions vary by degree rather than by kind, and the axis is rainfall and shelter rather than temperature. The eastern counties are the best outdoor odds in the country: roughly 750 mm of rain a year, the highest sunshine totals, and shelter from the prevailing south-westerlies in the lee of the uplands. The south and the Munster coast have the mildest winters and the longest frost-free season, traded against more rain and higher humidity through the flowering weeks. The Atlantic west and north-west take 1,200 to over 2,000 mm along with the wind and the fewest sunshine hours — polytunnel and greenhouse country, honestly stated. The midlands and inland border counties have the widest frost window at both ends and heavy, slow-draining ground. Choose on finishing time first, then on everything else.

Why Some Strain Pages Show Fewer Numbers Than Others

▼

This site publishes no yield figures of its own, and no customer-reported averages, because it has none to publish. What appears on a strain page is the figure the breeder or a reference source published, shown with its source. Where none exists the field is blank. Treat any per-plant number — here or anywhere — as a ceiling under that grower's conditions rather than a forecast for yours: pot size, light, feeding and training move the result far more than genetics alone.

How Our Discreet Shipping Operates

▼

Orders ship in plain, unbranded outer packaging— no logos, no company name on the outside, and no description of the contents. Delivery is tracked to addresses in all 26 counties. Outlying towns and farm addresses take longer than the metros.

Potency, Cannabinoids, and Choosing by Desired Outcome

▼

Experienced cultivators growing for maximum strength gravitate toward high-THC genetics that test above 25%. Strains like Gorilla Glue, Bruce Banner, and Girl Scout Cookies dominate this tier. Growers prioritising therapeutic benefit without heavy psychoactive intensity should explore CBD-dominant seeds that produce plants with 10 to 20% cannabidiol and minimal THC. For a middle path, balanced 1:1 THC-to-CBD hybrids sit between the two. Our calmer-effect collectionis grouped from breeder and grower effect reports — those are descriptions of reported experience, not medical claims, and nothing on this site is offered as a treatment.

Storing Seeds Between Seasons

▼

Seeds keep best cool, dark, dry and sealed. An airtight container with a desiccant sachet in a fridge is more than adequate; the thing that actually degrades viability is repeated temperature swing and the condensation that comes with it, so a container opened daily in a warm room is worse than one left closed in the cold. Avoid the freezer. Label the container with the strain and the date you received it — a year on, that is the detail nobody remembers.

Recommended Strains for Every Experience Level

▼

For a first grow, the useful filter is forgiveness rather than potency: an autoflower removes the light-cycle decision entirely, and a shorter plant is easier to manage in a tent or on a balcony. Start from the autoflowering range and sort by finishing time, and for an outdoor run anywhere in Ireland treat anything over twelve weeks from germination as optimistic.

Explore Seeds by Genetic Type

Understanding the distinction between seed types is the foundation of a successful grow. Feminised seeds deliver an all-female crop — no males to cull, no wasted pots. Autoflowers bloom on their own clock regardless of light hours, finishing seed-to-harvest in as little as eight weeks. Photoperiod genetics hand experienced growers full command over vegetative duration and canopy architecture for peak yield.

Seeds Chosen for Your Part of Ireland

Ireland is temperate oceanic from end to end, so what changes across the country is the amount of rain and wind you are asking a plant to flower through. What copes with a Connemara September is not what a sheltered Wicklow garden needs. Pick for your conditions before you pick for potency.

Dublin & the East

The driest and brightest ground in the country, sheltered in the lee of the uplands from the prevailing south-westerlies. Around 750 mm of rain a year against well over 1,200 mm in the west, and the best sunshine totals in Ireland. This is where an outdoor photoperiod has the best chance of finishing clean, and it is still a close-run thing.

Cork, Kerry & the South

The mildest ground in Ireland and the longest frost-free season, warmed by the North Atlantic Drift — parts of the west Cork and Kerry coast go whole winters without an air frost. Warmer than the east but wetter and more humid with it, and here the humidity rather than the temperature is what decides a harvest.

Galway, Mayo & the West

Wet, windy and exposed: 1,200 to over 2,000 mm of rain, Atlantic gales and the fewest sunshine hours in the country. Frost is uncommon near the coast, but that does not lengthen a usable season — light and wind do the limiting here. Under cover is the honest answer, and a fast autoflower is the honest genetics.

Donegal & the North-West

The shortest usable season on the island: high latitude, exposed coast, and the earliest autumn close-down. Anything still in flower in mid-October is being gambled with. Short, staked, well-spaced plants and genetics chosen purely on days-to-finish.

The Midlands

Inland and away from the moderating sea, so the frost window is the widest in the country at both ends and the nights are colder than the coasts at the same latitude. Heavy, slow-draining ground after autumn rain. The cold nights do bring autumn colour out of the right genetics, which is the one thing this zone has going for it.

Wicklow, Wexford & the South-East

The sunniest corner of Ireland and the least rain, with the Wicklow uplands taking the worst of the weather before it arrives. The best odds in the country for a photoperiod taken to a full finish outdoors, and the only part where a longer-flowering cultivar is a reasonable rather than an optimistic choice.

Maximum Potency: 25%+ THC Genetics

Bred for cultivators who demand top-shelf potency from every harvest. These high-THC varieties carry the highest published cannabinoid figures in the catalogue. Worth noting that potency is largely fixed by genetics but expressed by conditions, so a well-run grow of a mid-range cultivar routinely beats a neglected grow of a headline one.

Quick-Finish Genetics for Short-Season Counties

Questions we would want answered before ordering seeds for an Irish grow.

Common Questions From Irish Growers

When should I start seeds for an outdoor grow in Ireland?
Work back from your local conditions rather than to a fixed calendar. Most growers germinate indoors or under cover through April and early May and move plants out at the end of May, once night temperatures hold reliably above about 10°C — a week or two later inland, where the last frost comes later than on the coasts. The grow then runs through the long midsummer days and has to finish by early October, when the light falls away and the rain sets in.
Why does bud rot come up so often in Irish growing advice?
Because there is nowhere in Ireland where flowering falls in a dry season. Rain arrives in every month with an autumn maximum, so the wettest, dullest, most humid weeks of the year land squarely on the flowering window. Botrytis takes hold in dense, tightly packed flowers that hold moisture, and it can go from unnoticed to ruinous inside a week. Open bud structure, generous spacing, good airflow and a faster finish are worth more outdoors here than any yield figure on paper.
Are autoflowers a better choice for an Irish outdoor grow?
Usually, yes, and for one specific reason: they let you choose your harvest month. An autoflower runs on its own clock, generally ten to twelve weeks from germination regardless of daylength, so one started at the end of May is off the plant in August — clear of the September and October weather that ends most outdoor photoperiod runs here. It also makes two cycles in a season possible under cover. A short-flowering photoperiod is the other workable route.
What is the difference between feminised, regular and autoflowering seeds?
Feminised seeds are bred to produce female plants, which are the ones that flower usefully — so you are not removing males partway through. Regular seeds produce both and are mainly of interest if you intend to breed. Autoflowering refers to timing rather than sex: those plants flower on age instead of on a change in daylength, so you do not control when they start.
How are your prices shown, and is there a card fee?
Every price is in euro with VAT already included, so the shelf price is what you pay. There is no card surcharge added at checkout — the total in your cart is the amount charged. Card payments are processed by our payment provider in US dollars behind the scenes, at a rate we set from published spot rates and record in the codebase. Your bank may apply its own international transaction fee, which is outside our control.
How is the order packaged and delivered?
Orders go out in plain, unbranded outer packaging with no logos or product description on the outside, and ship with tracking to addresses in all 26 counties. Outlying towns and farm addresses take a little longer than the metros.
How should I store seeds if I am not planting straight away?
Cool, dark and dry, in an airtight container, ideally with a desiccant sachet. A fridge is suitable provided the container is genuinely airtight, because repeated condensation is more damaging than the cold. Avoid a freezer and avoid anywhere that swings between warm and cold.
Why do some strain pages show fewer grow figures than others?
Because we only publish flowering time, yield and height where we could source them from published breeder or reference data, and we keep a record of where each one came from. Where no published figure exists, the field is left empty. Roughly one strain in six has no flowering time we could verify anywhere, so those pages genuinely have less on them.
What is the practical difference between indica and sativa in an Irish grow?
It cuts both ways here, which is why the label is less useful than the numbers. Indica-leaning plants stay shorter and finish sooner, which suits a short season, an exposed site and limited headroom in a tent — but their dense, tightly packed flowers are exactly what botrytis wants in a damp September. Sativa-leaning plants have the airier structure that copes far better with the humidity, and take longer to finish than the season comfortably allows. Most of the catalogue is hybrid, so read the flowering time and the bud structure rather than the label.
Which payment methods do you accept?
Visa and Mastercard through our payment provider, and a range of cryptocurrencies as an alternative. Full card numbers are never stored on this site.

Royal King Seeds in Ireland

Royal King Seeds is a cannabis seed catalogue put together for Irish conditions. This is a new store, so rather than tell you how long we have been here, it is more useful to say what the site actually does.

Every strain page carries the grow figures we could source — flowering time, indoor and outdoor yield, indoor height — and each one is taken from published breeder or reference data. Where a figure does not exist, the page shows nothing in its place. Roughly one strain in six has no published flowering time anywhere we could check, and those pages look emptier as a result. That is deliberate.

The catalogue is filterable the way growers actually choose: by whether you want to control the flip or let the plant run on its own clock, by finishing speed, by how much height you can give it, and by flavour and effect. If you would rather answer questions than browse, the strain finder narrows 1,677 varieties down to a short list.

Prices are in euro with VAT included, and there is no card surcharge at checkout. Orders ship in plain, unbranded packaging with tracking to addresses in all 26 counties.
